Teksystems is looking for a User Experience Researcher, 4 month contract

User Experience Researcher is responsible for conducting exploratory user research to understand the needs and desires of a target audience. Other responsibilities include recruiting, scheduling, researching, documenting and presenting recommendations based on research and analysis, working with the supervising UX Lead in identifying and addressing critical usability issues.

Skills required:
- Experience of the user research basics –Demonstrated skill in collecting and analyzing human behavioral data required
- Must be an influential team player – Must be able to work independently or as part of a team
- Possess creative and critical approaches to problems – has demonstrated the ability to be creative in approaching challenging problem spaces, and is able to make smart tradeoffs to forward the action but not compromise the customer position
- Fluency to cross discipline boundaries – can talk the language and understand the priorities of other disciplines to influence work
- At least a bachelor’s degree, and preferably a master’s degree in a relevant discipline that is relevant to understand people behavior (e.g., psychology, human factors, human-computer interaction, anthropology).
- Minimum of 2 years experience as a user researcher (or similar) working in software development.
- Good Communication skills. This research involves communicating and negotiating with Sr. Attorney and legal professionals to understand their needs and report back with findings.
- Industry experience with user interviews, contextual inquiry and scenario writing.
- This specific project is very ambiguous and thus person should be able to deal with ambiguity.


Day-to-day duties:
- Meet with stakeholders to define the user research
- Prepare questionnaire for research
- Recruit participants and conduct interviews and observations
- Analyze results and present to the stakeholders
- Create scenarios based on user research


Work related experience:
Human Machine Interaction, ethnography or usability required. Demonstrated skill in collecting and analyzing human behavioral data required. Excellent communication skills required. Must be able to work independently or as part of a team. Experience in project management preferred. Master's degree in Psychology, Human Factors or related field required or Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Human Factors or related field with equivalent work experience in Behavioral Science.
