Position Summary:  
Speakeasy is seeking a talented Web Designer who can understand and translate marketing campaigns/promotions (i.e., Banners, Landing Pages, Micro Sites) to the Web, while also being responsible for our corporate site and keeping all of the above in line with our brand.


The majority of your time will be spent creating web (and some print) deliverables for marketing campaigns and web projects. Deliverables take the form of wireframes, page comps, graphics, email design, banner ads and other graphics, and flash development.
 
You must be well organized, detail-oriented, outgoing, and able to receive ideas from others. Your portfolio should demonstrate a strong understanding of graphic design, layout, and good usability principles.
 
Your responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Manage workflow and deadlines of multiple, simultaneous projects
  • Proactively suggest and develop new design initiatives
  • Be a core resource for the production and maintenance of our Web presence
  • Present artwork to the company in an articulate and descriptive manner, communicating the goals and methodologies of your work
  • Attend cross-departmental calls/meetings as they relate to creative issues
  • Ensure that company needs are met in Look and Feel
  • Work closely with our internal team to plan the layout and design according to creative and technical specifications
  • Work with a variety of vendors, which might include freelance designers, design agencies, printers, photographers and others
  • Create wireframes and comps during the production phase
  • Maintain and design internal sales collateral and other miscellaneous print projects
  • Keep abreast of new design trends and design software developments
  • Analyze and critique Web sites; present in written or oral format as needed
This position requires the following skills and experience:
  • B.A. or B.S. in graphic design, art or related field, or equivalent academic and work experience is required
  • A minimum of three years designing for the Web, with at least two years experience with print design. Must comprehend design in terms of the technical specifications and limitations of the Web.
  • Substantial understanding of User Interface and Usability issues
  • Experience in developing information architecture, user interface design, and site maps.
  • Proficiency with PC and Mac
  • Proficiency using the Adobe Creative Suite, Flash or Silverlight, PageMaker or Quark, Microsoft Office Suite, Visio, SharePoint, and online development tools (i.e., FTP, Text Editors, DHTML, HTML applications like Dreamweaver and how they interface with a remote server).
  • Extensive Flash experience a plus
  • Ability to hand code some HTML and style sheets and understand HTML limitations in a cross-browser/cross-platform environment
  • Familiarity with the functionality of browser scripting and server-side technologies like PHP, ASP, or Perl
  • Professional presentation skills
