January meeting with Ashby Fiser:
Finding Flow in your career
Thursday, Jan. 15, 2015

Make 2015 your year! You are part of one of the most exciting, interesting, and multi-faceted fields out there. You have the power to make life not only easier, but better for literally millions of people! You are a UX SUPERHERO! If you can see how what you are doing fits into the epic life quest for everyone on this planet, then you might just find your way to career bliss along the way.

Enter Flow. It’s my favorite topic. Among other things, Flow is the optimal state of engagement. You probably understand how important it is for your users to engage, but what about you? Are you engaged in UX? Do you Flow?

Understanding how to Flow in your job and your career is critical to not only your happiness but to the quality and quantity of what you can produce. We are going to outline the basic steps you can take to tap into your superpowers, discover your purpose, and find your Flow.

About Ashby
I can milk a goat, solder copper pipe, and make crème brulee. I also have a BA from BYU and this spring I completed a Graduate Certificate in UCD at UW. I’m a UX unicorn and think that there should be more of us. I’ve worked as a contributor and leader in content, design, and research for almost 15 years. I have my sights set on a PhD in HCDE. (I also want to learn how to juggle.)
