Abstract
Arnie will be talking about how to have influence within corporate cultures. He will cover approaches that he has tried and that have been successful across his career, and that he has discussed in his recently published book
User Experience Management: Essential Skills for Leading Effective UX Teams
. He will provide a case study of how the principles are being applied in the course of his new role growing user experience within Microsoft’s Azure cloud initiative.

Bio
Arnold (Arnie) Lund, PhD, CUXP recently moved to a role as Principal User Experience Lead in Microsoft's Server and Management Studios to define and implement the user experience strategy for cloud computing. Before that he was Principal Director of User Experience in Microsoft's IT organization where he led a team responsible for Microsoft.com design and user research. He began his career at AT&T Bell Laboratories in applied research, and helped build the science and technology organization at Ameritech. His Ameritech team created a variety of innovative products, his research was recognized by the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers (SMPTE), and his work on metrics for assessing user experiences and predicting successful products continues to be influential. He is a member of the ACM SIGCHI Academy, and a Fellow of the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society (HFES).
