PS SIGCHI February Meeting
Innovation Minefield: Bringing Lean Startup and Design Thinking to Large Teams
Thursday, February 28, 6:30-8:30PM

Lean Startup. Customer Development. Design Thinking. These practices have helped startups and the most innovative Fortune 500 companies create new products and businesses that customers love. But many people have tried to practice these disciplines in their own companies, only finding lackluster results. Why is this? Are some companies suitable for these practices while other are not? Is there a "right kind" of Lean Startup company?

In fact, the answer may be yes. During this talk we'll explore why efforts to use or adopt these innovation practices fail at large companies. We'll also look at the characteristics of companies that have effectively used these techniques, and discuss a framework to evaluate whether these tools are appropriate for your team... and how to change that if they're not.
