Rod Brooks will be sharing the magic behind the success of PEMCO’s distinctive brand strategy and break-through marketing campaign.  After harnessing enthusiasm for being a challenger in the market, and using an unorthodox approach to garnering consumer insights, Rod and his team created the foundation for bringing the voice of the customer into the organization in a way that has been embraced from the C-suite to the consumer’s living room. Join us to learn from Rod what challenges he faced along the way, what strategies were used to overcome them, and the lessons learned from the top.

Rod Brooks, Vice President and CMO, Pemco Mutual Insurance Company 

Rod W. Brooks is a native Washingtonian.  He grew up in a small community north of Seattle and earned his bachelor’s degree from Washington State University.

 

After graduating from college, Rod spent 12 years at Northern Automotive, influencing strategic decisions about growth through acquisition.  Northern Automotive’s rapid growth under Rod’s direction caught the attention of a cadre of investors interested in capitalizing on his skills.  Rod was recruited to become the marketing force behind such successful start-ups and emerging growth companies as Egghead Software, WordPerfect and Coinstar. 

 

Following his stint at Coinstar, Rod was pleased to have the opportunity to accept a position at PEMCO Mutual Insurance Company.  PEMCO represented another challenging thrill – the opportunity to transform an operations-based organization with a predominantly commoditized product into a dynamic customer-centric, market-driven and results-oriented mutual organization.   Now, ten years after joining the company, Rod calls the insurance business one of the biggest marketing challenges he has faced… and he views their current campaign as one of his most rewarding.

 

Rod has recently been focused on the discipline of social media and has developed a following within the Puget Sound social media community.  He was recently profiled by Seattle Social Media Profiles.

The meeting will be held in the Mercer Slough Environmental Conference Center in Bellevue.  Parking is extremely limited, so please carpool or arrange a pick up (we can help) from the nearby park and ride if possible.
